Dendrobium extract is an effective component extracted from Dendrobium, including polysaccharide components and alkaloid components.

Pharmacological effects of Dendrobium extract include:
Enhancing immunity: Dendrobium polysaccharide significantly enhanced T lymphocyte transformation function, NK cell activity and phagocytosis function of peritoneal macrophages in S180 sarcoma mice, and there was a dose-response relationship. It can significantly increase the TA rosette formation rate in the serum of sarcoma mice, and significantly increase the number of antibody producing cells, T lymphocyte transformation function and NK cell activity in normal mice. It can promote α-thyrotropin (TSH) release from spleen lymphocytes induced by ConA.
Antitumor effect: Dendrobium polysaccharide can inhibit the growth of S180 sarcoma cells, Lewis lung cancer cells and B16 melanoma cells, and its mechanism may be related to inhibiting the DNA synthesis of cancer cells.
Antioxidant activity: The antioxidant activity of 4 kinds of Dendrobium officinale polysaccharides (D1, D2, D3 and D4) with different molecular weight was studied in vitro. It was found that Dendrobium officinale polysaccharides with different molecular weight showed strong antioxidant ability, among which D1 had the strongest antioxidant ability.
Therapeutic effect on cataract: Studies have shown that Dendrobium nendrobium polysaccharide can reverse the lens opacity caused by galactose, significantly increase the contents of water-soluble protein, GSH and T-SOD activity, and reduce the content of MDA.
Anti-hyperglycemia: Dendrobium polysaccharide and alkaloid can inhibit the blood sugar of adrenergic hyperglycemia mice, and have no effect on the blood sugar of normal mice. The effect of the high and medium dose groups was obvious, and it had no effect on the blood sugar of normal mice.
