Product Description
Cinnamon is a traditional precious Chinese medicinal material in my country and is also one of the sources of famous spicy edible seasonings. Cinnamon is the dried bark of Cinnamomum cassia Presl, a plant in the Lauraceae family. It has a hot property and a pungent and sweet taste. It has the effects of replenishing fire and supporting yang, dispersing cold and relieving pain, warming meridians and unblocking meridians, and inducing fire to return to the original state. Cinnamon can be used externally to effectively relieve the pain of certain diseases such as arthritis. Cinnamon contains about 2% volatile oil, the main component of which is cinnamic aldehyde (75% to 90%), as well as polysaccharides, phenols, coumarins and inorganic elements. Cinnamon has a variety of pharmacological effects, mainly in anti-gastric ulcer, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, anti-tumor, diabetes prevention, sedative, antispasmodic, and antipyretic effects.
1. Anti-gastric ulcer; cinnamon can enhance the body's digestive function, alleviate gastrointestinal irritation, eliminate gas accumulation in the digestive tract, and relieve gastrointestinal spasmodic pain. The aqueous extract of cinnamon inhibits the formation of gastric ulcers mainly by increasing blood flow to the gastric mucosa, thereby improving circulation. Currently, there are 5 strong anti-ulcer active ingredients isolated from cinnamon extracts, namely cinnamon glycoside, cinnamon glycoside, 3,4,5-trihydroxyphenol-B-D-corianderose (1-6)-B-D- Glucopyranoside and 3-(-2hydroxyphenyl)propionic acid and its glycosides.
2. Dilate blood vessels: Cinnamaldehyde can dilate blood vessels, lower blood pressure, promote blood circulation in the body, relieve pain in limbs, and have anti-shock effects. Cinnamon extract has a significant inhibitory effect on platelet aggregation in rats induced by adenosine diphosphate disodium in vitro or intravenously. Cinnamon decoction, coumarin, cinnamon methanol extract or its monomer cinnamic acid can prevent venous or arterial thrombosis, and can also increase the blood flow of isolated heart coronary arteries. These all indicate that cinnamon has an effect on peripheral The vasodilatory effect is very direct.
3. Antibacterial: The water extract of cinnamon can significantly inhibit Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus albicans, Shigella dysenteriae, Typhimurium and Candida albicans in vitro. At the same time, the volatile oil of cinnamon can also inhibit Gram-positive bacteria and Gram-negative bacteria well in vitro.
4. Anti-inflammatory: The active ingredients of the hot water extract of cinnamon are polyphenols and cinnamic aldehyde and its derivatives, which have certain anti-inflammatory effects. The mechanism of its anti-inflammatory effect is mainly by inhibiting the production of NO, and at the same time Trans-cinnamaldehyde is also expected to become a new NO inhibitor in the future.
5. Antioxidant and anti-tumor: Cinnamon is a plant with antioxidant activity, which can inhibit oxidation and eliminate superoxide free radicals. Its components, such as total phenolics, quercetin, and kaempferol, have been proven to have good anti-tumor effects in both in vivo and in vitro tests. The main component of cinnamon alcohol extract is cinnamaldehyde, which has a strong inhibitory effect on lipid peroxidation activity. At the same time, cinnamon hot water extract has a good elimination or inhibitory effect on active oxygen free radicals related to aging, inflammation, cancer, arteriosclerosis, diabetes, etc.
6. Prevent and treat diabetes: Cinnamon proanthocyanidins are the main anti-diabetic chemical components and can significantly inhibit the non-enzymatic glycation of proteins in vitro. This suggests that cinnamon may potentially prevent diabetes and its complications to some extent.
7. Others: Cinnamon also has sedative, antispasmodic, antipyretic, cough and expectorant properties, increases white blood cells, and aphrodisiac effects. It can also sterilize, repel insects, and disinfect. It can be used as a spice, flavoring, preservative, and antibacterial agent. Oxidants are used in food.
